HCI Pioneers is a site and a book from Ben Schneiderman recounting biographies and encounters over the years with various early HCI practitioners. This is old-school HCI as practiced in the 1970's and 80's. About 20 women to the 40 men - mostly white.
AIGA's Eye on Design is an excellent mix of interviews, articles about design issues, various series and sub-genres of design. Occassional stories about interaction design and UX.
